Dragonfly Dreams Meets Star of Light

Hi Everyone,

If your anything like me then you are always looking for new ways to use stamp sets, I think this is particularly true for the Christmas themed sets which don’t get all year round use. Star of Light is a great example of a Christmas themed stamp set which can easily be used anytime of year and stars are a fairly versatile image.

For today’s card I took the large swirl stamp which is my favourite from this set and combined it with stamps from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.

Here is the card I came up with:

I chose to use Smoky Slate for the swirls and the little stars, which also come from the Star of Light set as I wanted to keep the background fairly pale.

I stamped the dragonfly wings with Wisteria Wonder and then stamped the whole dragonfly outline in Perfect Plum.

I added a greeting in the bottom left corner in Perfect Plum again and the card is done, quick simple and lovely.

Hope you like this card, do you have any more ideas for the Star of Light set?

Bee Unique Card for #TGIFC115

Hi Everyone,

This week’s challenge for TGIF Challenges was to use Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide, three colours which I love together. I’ve had this Bee Unique card idea in my head for a while and decided these bright colours would work perfectly with the black be background I wanted to stamp.

After I had stamped out my black bee background it looked a little harsh against my Berry Burst matt and Tranquil Tide card base so I added a layer of vellum over the top.

I then took the Labeller Alphabet stamp set and carefully stamped out BEE Unique to be my greeting.

To finish the card I cut various shape from the May Flowers, Layering Circles and Detailed Dragonflies Thinlits sets, including a Berry Burst bee as a focal point.

To add a little more Lemon Lime Twist and to hold the vellum in place I added a striped punched from the Ticket Tear punch.

Rainbow Dragonfly Card

Hello everyone,

Hope you’ve all have a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sunshine. It’s lovely but today I’m thankful I live in a stone cottage and can cool off easily. Today’s card was inspired by the watercolour pencils. I was playing around creating rainbow in various patterns across watercolour paper and my favourite result was this rainbow stripe.

I didn’t want to detract too much from the lovely rainbow effect so I chose to just use Basic Black ink and minimal stamping. The dragonfly is actually stamped twice as the first time he was very faint as I forgot to do the tap, tap, twist motion with the archival ink. Although with the photopolymer stamps this was really easy to do.

The leaves are from the Falling Flowers stamp set as I wanted a bold outlined leaf shape and this was perfect. I’ve not chosen a sentiment for this card as I think it could work for many occasions and doesn’t need anything else adding.

Floral Friday: Tranquil Tulips Centre Step Card

For today’s card I decided to make a more complicated card than usual and try a Centre-Step card. I intend to do a full tutorial post on this soon but there are plenty of tutorials around Pinterest. Tranquil Tulips is one of the new hostess sets and I think it will be my favourite for this year as you all know I love my florals and Tulips are one of my favourite flowers. I wanted to make a bright and cheery card as the weather has been so miserable lately and all the rain we’ve had has given my flowers a bit of a battering. So I chose a colour scheme of Tempting Turquoise, Real Read and Lemon Lime Twist.

I think the water coloured effect of the Fresh Florals DSP compliments the Tranquil Tulip stamps perfectly.  I think my favourite part of this card is the greeting from Dragonfly Dreams its fits the bottom panel perfectly.
