Eastern Palace Hexagonal Box

Today I’m showcasing a gorgeous box I’ve made using the Eastern Palace suite of products and the Window Box Thinlits Dies. I love how easily this box came together and how elegant it looks.

EasternPromiseHexagonalBox

Firstly I took some Tranquil Tide cardstock and laid out the hexagonal box die from the Window Box Thinlits, the large circle medallion and one of the small circle medallions from Eastern Medallions.

easternpromisehexagonalboxdielayout

I ran this through the bigshot once to create the top decoration. I then removed the large medallion die and moved the small medallion to the next square and ran through again. You will need to repeat this once more for one half of the box. To create the bottom use only the small medallion and run through the bigshot three times. When you have done this the pieces you have should look like this:

easternpromisehexagonalbox templates

As you can see in the above phot I have cut off the two side fold flaps on the bottom section as these won’t be needed. Add adhesive, I used the fine-tip glue, along each remaining flap at the sides and on the bottom piece. Do not put adhesive on the lid part of the box. Hold the box in place while the adhesive dries if you’ve used a wet glue like me.

To decorate the top of the box I cut the star shaped medallion out of gold foil and then created a flower using the dies and the vinyl stickers.

Stick the gold flower sticker onto the Tranquil Tide cardstock and place the corresponding dies over it as shown above, run through the bigshot and one super quick flower is ready for the top of the box. I added a final touch of Gold Metallic Enamel Shapes to the centre of each side window circle.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this project, I’m loving using the Eastern Palace Suite.

Introducing the new In-Colours

May is my favourite month in the Stampin’ Up! calendar and is when being a demonstrator really is the most fun. During May we have the retiring list which brings out the need in me to clear out the cupboards and that’s when you find those hidden gems which you’d forgot you bought but absolutely love, which brings on a whole wave of creativity. BUT that is not the best part, the best part is the pre-order list and being able to see the catalogue a month early (its amazing). The pre-order list means we can order a selection of products early and always (or has done as long as I remember) included the brand new in-colours and this to me is absolute heaven when that box of new coloured goodies arrives on the doorstep. This year we have five amazing new colours which I’m sure you’re going to love as much as I do. I’m sure you’ve seen three of them in the Eastern Palace Suite but here is a picture of all five together…lush.

incolourintrocards

These cards were super quick to make and use a combination of retiring products, staying products and new products. The background paper come from the Irresistibly Floral dsp paper which is sadly retiring, but currently still available to purchase. I just used the aqua painter and the new in-colour inks to create a wash over the top and just embellished with a simple butterfly cut from the Butterflies Thinlits dies. Now lets take a closer look at each card.

tranquiltideintrocard

This card features Tranquil Tide which is a gorgeous rich green which is darker than Emerald Envy and a greener version of Island Indigo. I can see myself using this colour lot as its a shade of green  I’ve being longing for.

lemonlimetwistintrocard

This card features Lemon Lime Twist which is quite unlike any other colour in the Stampin’ Up range. It’s an almost neon its so bright ( much brighter than in the photo) and I think it will look gorgeous paired up with black and any of our pinks.

powderpinkintrocard

This card features Powder Pink, yes it is very similar to Pink Pirouette and Blushing Bride but it works beautifully alongside both colours and is the perfect baby pink colour.

berryburstintrocard

This card features Berry Burst which is a lovely Magenta colour with a similar brightness to Lemon Lime Twist I can see this working well with many of our colours as its has just a bit more zing than Melon Mambo or Rose Red.

freshfigintrocard

This final card features Fresh Fig which I think is my favourite colour. It’s a lighter version to Blackberry Bliss which I loved but did find a little too dark for some projects. Fresh Fig for me is the perfect purple and I’m already wishing I’d ordered more in my pre-order.

If you think you’d like to get your hands on these products earlier than June 1st then I’d  love you to join my team and then you too can order from our pre-order list and enjoy these wonderful products a little early.

Thanks for stopping by.

Floral Friday: Girly Eastern Palace Card

Today I wanted to show you that the Eastern Palace Suite can even look good in more pastel colours and have a more girly look than what originally springs to mind when you look at this suite.

easternpalacefloralfridaycard

I choose to base this card around this piece of dsp which I have from the Playful Palette Stack so I choose a colour scheme of just Whisper White With Blushing Bride which makes for a very soft floral look.

These flowers were created by using the star shaped stamp from Eastern Beauty and stamping tone on tone with Blushing Bride. I then added one of the smaller flourishes to the petals to give a little more detail. Here is a close up photo

easternpalacefloralfridaycloseup

The shape was cut using both the outline die and the inner star shaped die from the Eastern Medallions set, so the inner part of the petals popped out a little. I really love this effect.

I finished off my flowers by adding a Blushing Bride enamel dot to the centres and popping then on my pattern paper using Stampin’ Dimensional’s.

The lovely greeting comes from the Eastern Beauty stamp set also, I really love the font of these sentiments, it really adds to the girly feel I wanted for the card.

Fresh Fig with Eastern Palace Suite

Today I’m sharing my first card made with the Eastern Palace Suite of products and three of this years new In-Colours: Fresh Fig, Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist. I chose a basic card base in Fresh Fig as I wanted to focus on stamping with this project. I love how this turned out and feel this stamp set could very easily make its way into my favourites, I love it.

I choose to make my own patterned paper using the stamps and I split this down into four steps.

freshfigeasternpromisestampingsteps

Step 1. I stamped the large squarish shape in Tranquil Tide in a grid pattern across the Very Vanilla cardstock.

Step 2. I continued using Tranquil Tide and place the little flower shape in the centre of each square.

Step 3. I switched to Fresh Fig and stamped the corner flourish in each visible corner of each square,

Step 4. I finished off my pattern by adding a little square into the centre where each square met with Lemon Lime Twist. This really made the project “pop” as this is a bright colour.

To make the greetings panel I lined the squarish shaped dies on the bigshot:

As you can see from the close up of the finished panel below the inner die only creates a partial cut, giving even more options with these dies. The circle was stamped with a Tranquil Tide greeting and a Lemon Lime Twist boarder, both from the same stamp set. The circle was then punched out with the 1 1/4″ circle punch and its fits exactly in the centre of the cut die shape.

Finally here is the finished card:

Hope you’ve enjoyed this first look at the Eastern Palace Suite, check back on Friday when I’ve gone for a totally difference look using some of these products.
