Three Card Thursday: Wood Textures

Hello Everyone,

For today’s post I have something a little different. I wanted give myself a little challenge and see if I could make three different cards using a very limited supply of products. This week I chose to focus on the Wood Words stamp set as it was the first one I found on my very messy desk. To that I added the Window Shopping stamp set as I wanted to use the Happy Birthday stamp, two sheets of paper from the Wood Textures DSP stack and Early Expresso cardstock and ink.

This was the first card I made as I really wanted to do something with the stack of log paper which I think is gorgeous. I cut the smaller log off the bottom of the sheet and then used the pale wood sheet as a background. I used the Happy Birthday from Window Shopping as I wanted a big greeting to fill the space. The little chicken was added last to just add another focal point.

For this second card I cut three of the large logs and stamped the chicken stamp in the middle. I stamped the floral stamp in the background and added a strip of Early Expresso cardstock to ground the three chickens.

For the third card I cut out three more logs and stamped chickens on them again like the card above. I then cut up all the remaining paper and card into strips and stuck them along one edge to create like a log stack. I then placed the chickens over the top and stamped the greeting in the bottom right-hand corner.

This third card is my favourite of the collection, I love how the paper strips look like a log stack.  I hope you’ve enjoyed my three card Thursday post and join me next week when I pick another limited selection of supplies to create with.

Jar of Love card for #GDP092

Hi Everyone,

This week’s challenge on Global Design Project was to case the designer, for me these are the hardest challenges and not ones I participate in very often, this weeks however I found very inspiring. After having the Jar of Love set for over a year yesterday it finally saw some ink.

I’ll be honest with you I’m still not huge fan of this stamp set, don’t get me wrong its beautiful and I’ve seen some gorgeous samples but it just doesn’t speak to me, so I’m glad I’ve used it at last.

We had to take our inspiration from designer Steffi Helmschrott and this image was given as inspiration:

GDP092_Steffi

Here is the card I came up with, note its very similar it pretty much every way so thank you to Steffi for helping me give this set some ink.

Jaroflove#gdp092

The background paper is from the Naturally Eclectic DSP and is what I used to base my colour scheme on using Berry Burst and Fresh Fig instead of Real Red and Pacific Point as Steffi has done.

The vellum jar is adhered sneakily behind the hessian wrap using SNAIL, love how this stamp was included in the set to make clear jars easily.

I’m still loving the Multi-Purpose Adhesive sheets, if like me you use your Bigshot and dies constantly them this stuff is a must…Stampin’ Up! please don’t take it away…ever!

Hope you like my attempt at the weeks Global Design Project, if you would like a go yourself or just want to see everyone’s creations click here.

Magical Mermaid Birthday Card

Hi Everyone,

Hope you’ve all managed to cool down a bit. Today I’m sharing a card made with the Magical Mermaid stamp set. This is one of those stamp sets that jumped out at me because of the number of different techniques which would go brilliantly with it. For this card I’ve just created a background for her on the new Glossy cardstock.

If you’ve been buying Stampin’ Up! for many years you’ll know we used to carry this product and I know many of us demonstrators are thrilled its back in the catalogue. The glossy cardstock makes creating blended ink backgrounds a dream.

To make this card I firstly cut the glossy cardstock to 10cm x 8cm. On the bottom third a sponged Peekaboo Peach to create the sand. I then blended Pool Party down from the top so that the middle of the panel only had a very light coverage of ink. As the glossy cardstock makes the ink slip I then left this to dry.

Next I took a piece of Pool Party card measuring 14cm x 10cm and placed it in the Seaside Embossing folder and ran it through the bigshot. I then adhered a strip of Bermuda Bay Mini Chevron ribbon across this panel at an angle.

Next I created the mermaid by embossing her in gold. I then coloured her in using the aqua painter and  Pool Party, Peekaboo Peach and Soft Suede inks. When she was dry I went over her with Wink of Stella to give her a sparkle.

To finish the card I picked up the now dry glossy cardstock ( if its not quite dry just run the heat tool over it gently) and stamped the shells at the bottom in Peekaboo Peach and the reeds in Tranquil Tide.

For the greeting I embossed in gold again to match the mermaid. I attached the glossy cardstock to my card base and then added the Mermaid with Stampin’ Dimensional’s. To finish the card off I added some iridescent sequins in Pool Party with the Fine-Tip glue.

I really love how this card turned out, perfect for any magical little girl.

Rainbow Dragonfly Card

Hello everyone,

Hope you’ve all have a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sunshine. It’s lovely but today I’m thankful I live in a stone cottage and can cool off easily. Today’s card was inspired by the watercolour pencils. I was playing around creating rainbow in various patterns across watercolour paper and my favourite result was this rainbow stripe.

I didn’t want to detract too much from the lovely rainbow effect so I chose to just use Basic Black ink and minimal stamping. The dragonfly is actually stamped twice as the first time he was very faint as I forgot to do the tap, tap, twist motion with the archival ink. Although with the photopolymer stamps this was really easy to do.

The leaves are from the Falling Flowers stamp set as I wanted a bold outlined leaf shape and this was perfect. I’ve not chosen a sentiment for this card as I think it could work for many occasions and doesn’t need anything else adding.

Pootlers Team New Catalogue Blog Hop – Beautiful Bouquets

Pootlers blog hop - header

Today I’m taking part in the Pootler’s Team Annual Catalogue Blog Hop with my Stampin’ Up! team-mates where we are show casing our favourite products from the new 2017-2018 catalogue. Hopefully you’ve joined me from the lovely Fiona’s blog , if not please make sure you go back and check out her lovely project.  Please take some time to visit each of our blogs today and see the wonderful creations these super talented ladies have come up with, just follow the links further down this post.

My favourite stamp set from the new catalogue is Beautiful Bouquets. Its a great floral set with some beautiful sentiments in the most gorgeous font and after playing around with it for the last couple of weeks its definitely my new favourite set.

I created three different cards for todays hop in an attempt to try and use all the different stamps in this stamp set and matching Bouquet Bunch Framelits, I had a good go but didn’t quite manage it as there are so many.

This first card features the lovely two-step tulip stamps in Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist which is a gorgeous colour combination. What made these cards come together really quickly was the new Multi Purpose Adhesive sheets, which turn your die-cuts into stickers making them super easy to use  and the best thing is no messy glue!

My next card is a wedding card using one of my favourite sentiments and my favourite paper from the new catalogue the Bundle with Love Speciality DSP. I love the colour combination of Powder Pink, Very Vanilla and Gold (also can you spot where Blushing Bride has accidentally made an appearance….oops!)

For my final card I went full on floral and stamped and die cut loads of flowers in Fresh Fig, Berry Burst and Powder Pink and created a huge bouquet of flowers. It may be a little over the top but I love it and its works great with the Thanks – A – Bunch sentiment.

If you love florals then I think Beautiful Bouquets is definitely one to add to your stash.

Please continue on with our blog hop by following the links below. The next button will take you on to Caroline’s blog and the previous button will take you back to Fiona’s blog.
