Feminine Feeling Rooted in Nature Thinking of You Card

This card ended up looking totally different to how I planned as it was meant to have the Scots Pine tree die-cut on the front and be more masculine looking. Anyway I didn’t like that so went in a more feminine direction and I love how it looks.

I’ve never been very good at pulling of the delicate collage look but with this card I think I’m getting closer. The leaves are cut and embossed in Mint Macaron with dies from the Nature’s Poem die-cut set, I love the embossing on them.

The white springs are punched out of a new punch coming in the Autumn/Winter catalogue out on September 5th which I’m already in love with. The little flowers are from the bunny builder punch and is actually the shape for the bunnies tail! I scrunched up the flowers  to give some more texture. A little Rose Metallic thread adds a touch of sparkle and the pearls in the flower centres finish the card off.

I even decorated the inside of this one.

This is my favourite card with the Rooted in Nature bundle and think it shows just how versatile this bundle is, its so much more than masculine tree cards.

Rooted in Nature Card Trio

For today’s project I was attempting to make a one-layer card, something which I really struggle with. To create the band of stamping across the middle of the first card I masked off roughly a third of the card with masking tape. The background was created with sponged Petal Pink and the leaves were stamped in Grapefruit Grove and Cajun Craze.

This first card was the result of my third attempt at this technique, its definitely one I need more practise in as I found my tape stuck too much and ripped my first two attempts and this third one is a little crooked. To finish this card I embossed the sentiments in Copper embossing power. This is an close to my initial plan as I came today.

For this second card I just cut the good stamping away from my ripped edge and mounted onto a strip of Cajun Craze. I stamped the greeting in Cajun Craze and added a couple of Faceted Dots in Grapefruit Grove. this actually turned out to be my favourite card of the three.

The final used some dies…yes I can’t help myself, but this strip off stamping was a mess and now with the 3.5cm (1 7/16″) square dies you wouldn’t even know. Three squares mounted on the matching scalloped squares and a Cajun Craze sentiment and I’ve rescued my first attempt and made a third card.

Three cards is not bad for an afternoon’s play and shows you can turn even your messes into beautiful projects.

“Be Strong” Oak Tree Card featuring Rooted in Nature Bundle

After making yesterday’s card I had more of a play with the Rooted in Nature Bundle and coordinating products and came up with some more projects. So this week I’m dedicating my blog to all things inspired by the Rooted in Nature bundle.

The focal point of today’s card is the stunning oak tree stamp, with matching die! I used my Stampin’ Markers to colour the stamp so I could add some branch details among the leaves and I love how well the image has stamped. I added this to some a matt made from the largest scalloped and un-scalloped dies in Layering Circles Framelits.

A couple of pieces of the gorgeous Nature’s Poem DSP created the background with a little Grapefruit Grove Mini Grosgrain to add some texture. I added the cut up words from the stamp “Be Strong Be Happy Be You” to finish the card, which I think fitted the “strong” feeling oak tree’s evoke in me at least.

Hope you have enjoyed this project and pop back through the week to check out my other Rooted in Nature projects.

Thinking of You Card with Autumnal Stripes

To I’m stepping into autumn territory with this autumn themed thinking of you card.  It uses products from the Nature’s Poem Suite which is perfect for this time of year when summer is drawing to a close. Full of rich shades the Nature’s Poem DSP is my favourite autumn themed papers Stampin’ Up! have produced, I love the combination of browns, purples, dark greens highlighted with mint and grapefruit. This stripe paper is probably my least favourite in the pack so today I’ve challenged myself to use it.

For the focal point of my card I used the lovely tree slice stamp from Rooted in Nature and then after fussy cutting it out I embossed the greeting in copper.

Across the middle of the card I added a length of Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle  anda length of the Grapefruit grove 1/8″ Mini Grosgrain Ribbon as I wanted to bring out the Grapefruit colour. To finish the card I added three of the Grapefruit Grove Faceted Dots, which I love.

Water-coloured Flowers with Blended Seasons

Colouring is one of my favourite past-times while watching tv as I can’t just sit and watch I have to have my hands busy. Last night I was using the new Water Colour Assortment 2 pencils to colour these flowers from the Blended Seasons Stamp set.

I love how some simple colouring has turned into a beautiful card this morning. The colours used were just Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green and the smallest amount of Crushed Curry, but the image looks like I used many more shades.

I was going to mount the image onto just a white card base but I think the added black layer gives the card a real “pop”. I stamped the greeting using Stazon on some vellum as I still wanted all of the  flowers to be seen.

A super simple card which looks beautiful, now I’m off to do some more colouring.
