Free As A Bird Oval Card

Sadly the Layering Ovals dies have now sold out here in Europe but I couldn’t let them go into my craft closet with out one final outing. I’ve paired the with the Free As A Bird stamp set which is carrying over to the next catalogue. I really like the delicate images in this set, these cute little birds were just crying out to be coloured with Stampin’ Blends.

I’ve coloured the little birds with a mix of Petal Pink and So Saffron to give a blended peachy tone, which matches the Champagne Rhinestones which I’ve used to embellish the card. The branch is Soft Suede and the leaves Just Jade.

I’ve used Blackberry Bliss as an accent colour in the flowers in the stamped inmage and also for the stamped flowers on the designer paper background.

As a final touch I added a length of the Blackberry Bliss Striped Ribbon from the Mini Catalogue

I love the soft feminine feel of this card and hope its not another year before Free As A Bird sees some ink.

Tasteful Textures Bookmark

Apart from stamping my other great love is reading, which is mostly now done on my Kindle. But recently I’ve gone back to read some old favourite paperbacks so I was in need of a bokmark, an old envelope just isn’t pretty is it!

So for tyodya’s project I’ve created a super quick bookmark which took less than ten minutes to make and is a vast improvement on my previous book marker.

The basic bookmark was made from a piece of Whisper White thick Thick A4 cardstock measuring 5cm x 21cm.  Punch one end with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and use the Detailed Trio Punch to round the bottom two corners. Now its time to decorate.

Tasteful Textures Bookmark

I love creating bookmarks because you can just let your imagination run and stamp whatever pattern you want. For this bookmark the background was created with stamps from the Taasteful Textures stamp set in Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam,

I wanted to add the sentiment ” Take time to do what makes your soul happy” because reading does just that for me, I astamped this in Rococo Rose. For an extra touch I added some flowers from the Free as a Bird stamp set because they are pretty and make me happy too!

To finish the book mark I added a length of the Petal Pink Striped Organdy Ribbon through the top and secured with some Whisper White Bakers Twine. I adore this ribbon but have found it hard to work on a card so far, so I’m glad I’ve finally used some.

I love to know what you’ve been creating with this ribbon.

Flirty Flamingo Free as a Bird Card

Have you checked out the new Bird Balalrd suite yet? This is my favourite suite in the new catalogue so watch out for many gorgeous projects comimg up. My favourtie thing in the suite is the Bird Ballard DSP and particularly the sheet used in this project with the birds all over it, its beautiful. Here I’ve used to a small circle of the paper and its made a gorgeous card.

Flirty Flamingo Free as a Bird card - flat

I used Flirty Flamingo for my card base as I thought it helped the flowers in the paper really pop out, even those this isn’t listed as one of the co-ordinating colours it still works wonderfully. I addded some detail with soem stamped flowers in Flirty Flamingo.

I cut the bird out with a circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies and then layered it on a Pearlized Doily with a circle of Petal Pink and a scalloped cicle of Pool Party both cut from the Layering Circles Dies.

Flirty Flamingo Free as a Bird card - close up

I added the greeting “Hello” cut from the small tag die in the Merry Christmas Dies and added a linen thread bow to one side. To finishe the card off I added a few Pool Party sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment.
