Oh My Stars Embossing Folder Birthday Card

Today I’m featuring a product which I always seem to pass over in the catalogue, the embossing folders. However in this new catalogue there are quite a few which are on my must have list and even a couple of the older ones which I can see working really well with new stamp sets.

The “Oh My Stars” embossing folder was on our demonstrator pre-order list and is one which I think makes a lovely background all on its own and it helped inspire this bold and bright birthday card.

The colour combination of Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo and Lemon Lime Twist is perfect for this bright bold birthday card. I wanted to show also the Happy Birthday Gorgeous doesn’t just have to male floral cards and if you changed the colour scheme its perfect for male cards too.

Don’t you just love the Bermuda Bay Chevron ribbon too? The other colours are definitely on my wish-list. I love the ribbon selection in this catalogue, I just need to come up with more ways to use it so stay tuned…

Floral Friday: Tranquil Tulips Centre Step Card

For today’s card I decided to make a more complicated card than usual and try a Centre-Step card. I intend to do a full tutorial post on this soon but there are plenty of tutorials around Pinterest. Tranquil Tulips is one of the new hostess sets and I think it will be my favourite for this year as you all know I love my florals and Tulips are one of my favourite flowers. I wanted to make a bright and cheery card as the weather has been so miserable lately and all the rain we’ve had has given my flowers a bit of a battering. So I chose a colour scheme of Tempting Turquoise, Real Read and Lemon Lime Twist.

I think the water coloured effect of the Fresh Florals DSP compliments the Tranquil Tulip stamps perfectly.  I think my favourite part of this card is the greeting from Dragonfly Dreams its fits the bottom panel perfectly.

TGIF Challenge #110 – Colour Combo Peekaboo Peach, Bermuda Bay & Basic Black

Today I’m joining in with this weeks TGIF Challenge #110 , to use the colours Peekaboo Peach, Bermuda Bay and Basic Black.  Initially I found this a hard combination to work with, I’m not good with the oranges colours as you know.

Anyway as I was opening my new box of goodies inspiration finally struck when I saw the Oh So Eclectic set, the watercolour effect stamps gave me the idea to create a watercolour background with Bermuda Bay and Peekaboo Peach blended together.  Although this is quite different to my usual cards I think its quite striking and was definitely fun to make.

tgif#110

To make the background image I took some watercolour paper and spritz it all over with water. While it was still dry I took the stamp which looks to me like a doughnut and stamped randomly with Peekaboo Peach and Bermuda Bay.

I then took the aqua-painter and dragged the colour into all the gaps to cover the whole background. I then spritzed again so the colour ran a little,  then I popped some kitchen towel over the top to soak up any excess ink.

When this was dry I stamped over my background with the large flower outline stamp in the same two colours and then to fill in the gaps took the stamp with the tiny circles and stamped any gaps with Peekaboo Peach.

To finish the card and add in the Basic Black element to the challenge I mounted my water coloured panel on some Basic Black cardstock and stamped a small greeting in the bottom right hand corner. Finally I added three of the new metallic sequins in black to draw the eye to the greeting.

I hope you enjoyed this card, I loved making it and can’t wait to get a little messy again soon. If you want to have a go at this challenge or want to see the other entries, check here.

Baby Girl card with In the City from Stampin’ Up!

Today’s card features one of the new hostess sets In the City. This photopolymer set is probably one of the biggest Stampin’ Up! has ever released with 60 stamps in it. It’s a great set where you can build all different kinds of building to create your own little city. The stamp that really jumped out at me when looking at this set is the little stork, its just so  tiny and cute and really made me want to make a baby card, so here it is:

How cute is this card? Using the In the City set I created the little house scene, what I love most about this set is that most images have an outline and then a filler stamp. So the cute little stork’s bundle can be pink or blue or any colour you want.

The background paper comes from the Bundle of Love Specialty DSP and wow this paper is gorgeous, one side has patterns with Blushing Bride or Soft Sky paired with Very Vanilla. The other side is Very Vanilla with gold foiling, I knew this paper had some foiling but didn’t realise its every sheet! I love it!

I finished the card off with a bow made from the new Gold Metallic Edged Ribbon, this ribbon is lovely and the gold edge at the extra touch of luxury.

Remember the In the City stamp set is only available as a hostess set with an order over £150.00. With the new catalogue launching you are sure to have plenty on your wish list. If you can afford to splurge then for the month of June Stampin’ Up! is offering an extra £30.00 hostess credit on all orders over £300.00, thats at least £60.00 in freebies!

Masculine Birthday Card with Eastern Beauty stamp set

Today’s card was inspired by challenge #089 over at Global Design Project which was to use the colours Basic Black, Old Olive and Calypso Coral, sadly I didn’t manage to enter as I struggled with this combo but here is my card:

easternbeautymasculinecard2

I really didn’t want to make a floral card so it took me a while to come up with an idea and it was Eastern Beauty to the rescue. I just started stamping and came up with this pattern.

I used the new Ticket Tear Boarder punch to an interesting edge to the stamped panel and I used the Old Olive ombre paper from the Colour Theory DSP stack as a background on the Basic Black card base.

The greeting comes from the Rose Wonder stamp set and was cut out with the Rose Garden Framelits.
