Brilliant Wings Thinking of You Card Duo

Today I’m sharing two cards made with the Brilliant Wings Dies. I love the intricate detail of these dies, you really don’t need much else to make a great card.

I’ve added some designer paper from the Fine Art Floral collection to add a subtle background. I stamped my greeting on a label cut from the Tasteful Labels dies. A little ribbon from the Playing With Pattern Combo Pack finishes off the card.

I’ve used Purple Posy on this card as I’m trying to use it up before it retires next month. If you love this colour then now is the time to be placing that order and stocking up. I can’t wait to find out what our new in-colours will be!

Blended Hearts Valentine’s Card

Have you tried our new Blending Brushes yet? I love them, they are super soft and make making beautifully blended backgrounds much easier than using sponges as they leave no lines.

For this card I’ve used the Detailed Hearts Die as a stencil instead of a die. I first used the brushes to blend a layer of Flirty Flamingo all over the card. I then place over the die, held in palce with washi tape and used the brushes with Real Red, making the blending darker down the centre of the card. I love the effect this has created.

I stamped Happy Valentine’s Day from the Heart to Heart stamp set onto a label cut from the Tasteful Labels Dies. I added a little touch of the Real Red Double-Stitched Satin Ribbon to the edge of the label and finished the card off with some of the little Real Red Resin hearts from the Snail Mail Suite.

Trimming the Town Shaker Card

Today I’m sharing with you a Shaker card made from the Trimming the Town Suite. This wasn’t a suite I was initally drawn to but after seeing what other demonstrators and crafters have made I knew I had to have a play.

I’m really pleased with how this shaker turned out as its so long since I made one and as there’s no stamping involved it didn’t take long to put together.

To make the shaker part of the card you will need to cut two ovals (or circle if you prefer) which are the same size. For one, the background I cut my image from the one of the scene sheets in the Trimming the Town DSP, the other oval was cut from window sheet.

To make the red frame I took the matching scalloped oval die and also an oval which was a size small than the first and ran them through the Cut and Emboss machine together so I was left with a thin frame. I adhered the window sheet to the back of my fram using the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.

Next take the foam adhesive strips and run one right around the edge of the background oval. Next the oval fill with the Snowflake Sequins and stick the framed oval on top, now you have your shaker.

For the card background cut layer of the snowflakde dsp to 9.5cm x 13.9cm . Wrap a length of the Poppy Parade Ribbon from the All The Trimmings pack around the centre of the paper and adhere on the back with Tear & Tape. Adhere to a Poppy Parade layer measuring 10cm x 14.4cm before adhering to the card base.

I’ve left this card without a greeting but if you wanted to add on then the Trimming the Town DSP has a wonderful sheet full of greeting strips that you could cut up and use.

Coloured Poinsettia Card

Who doesn’t love having a Poinsettia at Christmas ? I do but every year I manage to kill them off before the big day. This year I can enjoy a paper version made from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set which I know will last much longer than the real thing in my house.

This card is made simply from one stamped flower image and three leaves and coloured with Stampin’ Blends. I’ve used Real Red for the flower and Old Olive for the leaves.

I’ve cut these images out with the matching Poinsettia Dies but you could easy fussy cut them as there a fairly easy shape. For the background of the card I used some of the mistletoe patterned paper from the Poinsettia Place DSP. I added a strip of the Real Red Double Stitched Satin Ribbon across the centre of the dsp before adhering to a layer of Real Red and then Old Olive cardstock.

I stamped the greeting on a die cut from the Ornate Frames set. I then added my poinsettia to the left side of the card and added the leaves around it. To finish off the card I added one of the Beaded Pearl Embellishments to the centre of the card, I think this adds a real elegant touch to the card.

Step It Up Sunday: Merry Moose

Who’s glad the Merry Moose stamp set and matching punch came back? Me definitely! I loved this bundle last year and was gutted when it sold out, so I’m excited its back and I can play again. Being in the UK the Moose is not the most obvious animal to stamp and send cards with, but there’s something about this set that just makes me happy.

Today I’m taking a basic card design and showing how you can step it up to a more detailed card, so whatever your crafting level you can enjoy this design.

For this first step or beginner card take a card blank in Crumb Cake, mine measures 14.9cm x 21cm, scored at 10.5cm. Next take the 6.7cm diameter circle die from the Layering Circles Dies and cut a Very Vanilla circle, cut a matching scalloped circle in Mossy Meadow. Also take the label die from the Most Wonderful Time dies, found in the product Medley. If you don’t have this you could use the Classic Label Punch or either of the Banner Punches.

On your Very Vanilla circle stamp the large christmas tree in Mossy Meadow and on your label stamp your greeting in Cherry Cobbler. Also stamp the solid moose in Early Espresso and then punch out with the Moose Punch. Arrange elements as shown above.

To take the card to the next level we’re going to add some detail to the background. Take a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock measureing 9.5cm x 13.4 and stamp it with the Buffalo Check stamp in Early Espresso. Add a layer of the Vanilla Open weave Ribbon from the Forever Greenery Suite across the middle of the Cherry Cobbler layer before you adhere to the card base.

For this card I’ve also stamped the outline of the Moose instead of the solid image to give more detail to the card.

For this final step of the card I’ve added a layer of Mossy Meadow cardstock below the Cherry Cobbler layer that measures 14.4cm x 10cm. I also ran the Cherry Cobbler layer through the Sutbtle £D Embossing Folder, so the buffalo check looks like shirt fabric.

I’ve also added a little detail to the Moose himself by fussing cutting him som antlers from some Soft Suede cardstock, these were adhreed with the Adhesive Sheets. I’ve also given him a little scarf to keep him warm in the forest.

I love how all three of these cards turned out, so if you missed out on Mr Moose last year I highly recommend you add him to your stash this year.
