Nature’s Roots Birthday Card

For today’s project I’ve made a quick birthday card which will suit anyone who loves nature.  I’ve kept the colour scheme very simple with Tranquil Tide and Crumb Cake but used different textures and layers to add interest.

The background was created by simply stamping the small leaf randomly all over my card base in Tranquil Tide to give a tone on tone look. The Simple Stripes Embossing Folder adds some texture to the Crumb Cake layer, a little inking to the edges adds a little more definition to the ripped edges.

Some of the Nature’s Twine in Crumb Cake adds a final touch of texture along with the raised up Scots Pine die cut from the Nature’s Roots Framelits. The happy birthday greeting is from Perennial Birthday.

Rooted in Nature Card Trio

For today’s project I was attempting to make a one-layer card, something which I really struggle with. To create the band of stamping across the middle of the first card I masked off roughly a third of the card with masking tape. The background was created with sponged Petal Pink and the leaves were stamped in Grapefruit Grove and Cajun Craze.

This first card was the result of my third attempt at this technique, its definitely one I need more practise in as I found my tape stuck too much and ripped my first two attempts and this third one is a little crooked. To finish this card I embossed the sentiments in Copper embossing power. This is an close to my initial plan as I came today.

For this second card I just cut the good stamping away from my ripped edge and mounted onto a strip of Cajun Craze. I stamped the greeting in Cajun Craze and added a couple of Faceted Dots in Grapefruit Grove. this actually turned out to be my favourite card of the three.

The final used some dies…yes I can’t help myself, but this strip off stamping was a mess and now with the 3.5cm (1 7/16″) square dies you wouldn’t even know. Three squares mounted on the matching scalloped squares and a Cajun Craze sentiment and I’ve rescued my first attempt and made a third card.

Three cards is not bad for an afternoon’s play and shows you can turn even your messes into beautiful projects.

Copper & Grapefruit Birthday Card

Just a quick post today to share this card with you. It’s show casing the Share What You Love paper which I haven’t pulled out in quite a while. I love how well this floral mixes with the copper, the paper has iridescent shimmer on it and is beautiful.

A couple of die cuts and a stamped greeting from the Stitched All around bundle and the card is finished. Sometimes all you need is some gorgeous paper and a greeting to make a great card.

Bicycle Birthday Card with Enjoy Life and Best Route DSP

Being from a town which  is cycling mad I knew I had to get the Enjoy Life stamp set with the bicycle image. Pairing that with the Best Route DSP and I’ve created a birthday which I think would be suitable for any male cycle enthusiast.

I think the Happy Birthday sentiment from Perennial Birthday is the perfect match for this card as its not too feminine. I also added a little decoration to the inside of this card so I could use another sentiment from the set.

Hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project, hopefully I’ll come up with more ideas for male birthday cards soon.

Share What You Love Suite and Grapefruit Grove

For today’s card I’m showcasing products from the Share What You Love Suite in Grapefruit Grove, one of our new 2018-2020 In-Colours. As regular readers will know I’m not a huge fan of the orange/peach shades in our collection but Grapefruit Grove is lovely and currently my favourite of the new in-colours.

Most of these products come from the Gotta Have It All bundle, which I highly recommend anyone purchasing as this suite of products is just stunning in real-life.

I added a circle from the Stitched Shape Framelits as a base for my stamping. The leaves are done in second generation ink so you can see how lovely a lighter shade of this colour is. The doily was one of the new pearlescent ones turned over and inked with Grapefruit Grove, I think this gives the card a real pop.  The beautiful Artisan Pearls add the perfect finishing touch, I can see myself going through many packets of these.

Here’s a close-up of the card, I wish the photo showed the beautiful pearly shimmer on those fussy cut flowers.  Hope you enjoyed today’s project.
