Simple Stamping – All The Good Things

I was mostly drawn to the All The Good Things stamp set because of the sentiments, for their meanings and the mix of capital letters with the cursive font which I think is a great combination, but now I’ve had a play with this set I’ve fallen for the fish too.

I’ll be honest and getting  the large fish image to ink up well has not been that simple. The sentiments are also part of the stamp so using the big ink pads always lefft me with splodges where I didn’t want them. I tried our Stampin’ Markers and although they worked you didn’t get the full beauty of the shading from this distinctive stamp. I was tempted to cut the stamp apart and then I tried using the sponge daubers.

I’ve not used these for years, but they are the perfect size for inking up small areas on a stamp and also you dont have the problem of excess ink.

For this first card I gave the large fish using the largest rectangle frame from the Swirly Frames stamp set. Using the card on the Stamp-a-ratus meant I was able to place the frame exactly where I wanted, i think this makes the whole thing look like a painting hung on a wall.

For the second card I added the smaller fish and then added some of the Pool Party sequins from the iridescent assortment.

“Peter Rabbit” Inspired card with Fable Friends

Growing up Beatrix Potter’s Tales of Peter Rabbit was one of my favourite books and every time I look at the Fable Friends stamp set happy memories come flooding back to me, if your a Beatrix Potter fan, I’d definitely add Fable Friends to your stampsollection.

I also love how Balmy Blue is the perfect match for Peter’s little jacket in the stories., so using the Gingham Gala DSP was the perfect choice for a background. Using the Stampin’ Blends that gorgeous little rabbit has come to life on my paper, how cute does he look?

To embellish the card a little I stamped and die-cut three flowers from the Needle and Thread Bundle which I think works well with the images in Fable Friends.

Hope you’ve enjoyed today’s quite monochromatic card and join me agin soon.

By the Bay Thank You Card

Being a Yorkshire girl the free Sale-A-Bration stamp set immeadiatly made me think of some of my favourite coastal villages which I’ve visited over the years. Staithes and Robin Hood’s bay being two of my favourties.

I stamped the image on watercolour paper and then coloured in select areas with the watercolour pencils. I’ve added more highlights of colour rather than a full coloured image as I wanted the image to stand out from my chosen background.

I added a slanted matt behind my image cut from the same size Stitched Rectangle in the Cajun Craze paper from the Nature’s Poem DSP . I then added this to a maated layer of
Old Olive cardstock which I’d run through the Bigshot with the Subtle Texture Impressions Embossing Folder to match the effect of the DSP.

A little Burlap ribbon adds to the rustic charm of the card and I think finishes it off nicely.

By the Bay may not be everyone’s first choice of Sale-A-Bration freebie but I think it worth a look, especially if your like me and love the sea.

Happy Spring Squirrel with Fable Friends

I don’t know about you but I’m longing for Spring to arrive and for us to have more than a peep of sunshine. So today I’m sharing with you a card which I think just oozes spring with the fresh bright colour combination of Daffodil Delight and Lemon Lime Twist. I’ve paired this combination with the Fable Friends stamp set, mainly because it has the sentiment Happy Spring and thats what I’m wanting.

How cute is this little guy with his sunflower, he was a joy to colour with the Stampin’ Blends. I love how his tail turned out with a mix of flecks in Crumb Cake and Cajun and Craze and isn’t Balmy Blue a perfect match for that famous Beatrix Potter blue.

To finish the card I added a strip of an old favourite the Double Stitched Daffodil Delight Ribbon which has a different stitched effect on each side of the ribbon, today I’ve gone with the cross but the dashes are just as lovely.

So Happy to have You Card

Today I just wanted to make a card which shows off my favourite pattern in the All My Love DSP, this red floral is gorgeous I would love to have it as wallpaper in my bedroom. I’ll have to settle for layers on cards though I think.

So Happy to have you card close up

I’m not normally a person who gravitates towards the stamp sets which contain large greetings as I struggle with how to use them but this greeting from Amazing Life works really well this paper and I feel it makes the perfect card to send to someone special to let them know you care.

I fussy cut out the banner part of the greeting just to add a little dimension to the card, maybe I should have done this in a different colour but I can’t decide, what do you think Lovely Lipstick or should I have chosen something to make it pop more.

So happy to have you flat

Do you have a favourite Stampin’ Up! paper, I’d love to know which is your favourite?
