First Christmas Card of the season with Have A Hoot

It’s taken me a while to get crafting with the new August – December Mini Catalogue, mainly because the kids have been at home so much but now they’re back at school (well tomorrow) its time for me to get my Christmas craft and show you everything I love about this catalogue.

One of the first sets that caught my eye was the Have A Hoot stamp and die set I love these cute little owls that are perfect for Halloween, christmas and other occassions. Today I’m sharing the first Christmas card I’ve made this year featuring these cute owls and my very favourite Lovely Labels Pick A Punch.

Firstly I stamped and coloured the owls with the Stampin’ Blends and then die cut them. I really like how you can just cut out the owls and leave the branches off your card it you like, this means those little owls can sit anywhere you want them too.

To create the background I used the tags die to cut out of Window Sheet to give me a stencil to create the sponged background. I then used Balmy Blue to sponge through the “cut out windows” and create the background for my owls. I then stamped each owl image again so I had the branches in the background.

I then used the tag die again to cut out the windows in the green designer paper which is from the Flowers for Every Season Collection. I matted my stamped/sponged background to the dsp making sure my sponging lined up. I then matted this on a layer of Real Red cardstock before adhering to my card base.

I then added my three stamped owls onto their branche using Stampin’ Dimensionals or you could use the new foam adhesive sheets and to finish the card I added a greeting to the top left corner of the card using the Lovely Labels Pick A Punch.

I love how cute this card is and its definitely got my in the mood for more Christmas Crafting.

Simple Stamping: Life Is Beautiful

I love the stamp set Life Is Beautiful as soon as I saw that lovely tree stamp. It reminds me of an more seasonal version Twinkle Trees which we had a few years ago. I love how there are different options for the leaves so you can turn this tree in to one from any season.

Today I’ve made a simple Thinking of You card and used only the top half of the tree stamp with the dots as leaves.

The background paper is from the Gilded Autumn Speciality DSP and I think it adds the perfect touch to make this card suitable for males or females. I also used a strip of the new Mint Macaron Basketweave Ribbon, this is so much prettier in real life with its inter wove strands, it completes this card perfectly.

Case the Catalogue: Stitched Stars Dies

Today I’m casing the catalogue and sharing with you my simplified version of the Stampin’ Up! original found on page 97. I’ve pulled out my Stitched Stars dies as they haven’t seen any love in a while and paired them with the Playing With Patterns DSP.

The original card uses Silver Foil and embossing folders for texture as you can see below.

As you can see I kept to a blue base but used Night of Navy instead of Misty Moonlight and used Costal Cabana and Calypso Coral as my other colours. I left off the twine as I want a quick card which was easy to replicate for when you need those last minute birthday cards.

I also used the Pick A Label Punch (my current favourite product) to stamp my greeting on which came from the Rustic Retreat stamp set.

So which do you prefer the Stampin’ Up! original or my simplified version?

Zany Zebras Mambo Birthday Card

Zebras have been one of my favourite animals for years so obviously as soon as I saw the new Zany Zebras stamp set then I was in love, these guys are so stinking cute!

For this card I’ve paired them with the bright patterns in the Artistry Blooms DSP, particularly this bright, fun Melon Mambo pattern.

The card base for this card measures 21.5cm x 20cm, scored in half at 10cm to create a DL sized card.

Zany Zebras Mambo Birthday Card - flat

The sentiment is stamped on a label cut from the Tasteful Labels Dies, a set full of versatile labels for any card project.

The two little Zebras were fussy cut from Whisper white cardstock and added with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Fussy cutting my not by your favourite thing but if you take it slow and move the paper more than the scissors you will get great results whi hare definitely worth it.

Positive Thoughts Card

I’ve pulled out the Positive Thoughts stamp set to work with today as I wanted to make a sympathy card, somehting I struggle with. I think all of the senitments in this set convey posite caring thoughts and I really like the sentiment  “Hugs, Prayers, Love” because if I lost someone close to me thats exactly what I’d want from other people.

Using the Tasteful Textures Embossing Folder adds a subtle background to this card which paired well with the paper from the In Good Taste DSP.

Positive Thougths Card - flat

My favourite part of this card is the tiny little die cut butterfly, I think it adds the perfect finishing touch to the card.
