Father’s Day card featuring Custom Tee for #GDP086

This week’s Global Design Project challenge was a  sketch challenge, if you want to join in you can find more details here. I love sketch challenges as they give a real focus to my crafting which is sometimes needed when you mountains of pretty products begging to be used.

After having a look through my supplies I decided to base my card around this stripy paper from the By the Shore DSP collection, which has sadly been left in its pack as I’m not a huge Calypso Coral fan. Anyway this paper just reminded me of my dad’s favourite summer  shirt, which if you’d met him would find odd as he’s a sheep farmer from Yorkshire so can usually been found in wellies and overalls and not dressed up and most certainly not in Coral!

I decided to  make him a Father’s Day card as June 18th will soon be here and he really is one in a million, he has to put with me as a daughter doesn’t he. I chose Calypso Coral as a card base and actually really like how it turned out.

The sentiment on the T-Shirt is actually two stamps. I stamped the One in A Million sentiment and then wanted the word Dad. So I took the Rad Dad stamp from the same set and covered the Rad part up with washi tape, I used the Mint Macaron Vine washi from the Affectionately Yours collection which fitted perfectly. Ink up the stamp and then remove the washi before stamping and there you have a perfectly stamped greeting…first time too.

The You’re the Best sentiment comes from the Urban District stamp set which is perfect for fathers day cards. I finished the card off with a few enamel stars in Dapper Denim because I love them and they just add that little something.

I hope you like todays project and I really hope my dad likes it too.

Night of Navy & Mint Macaron Friendship card for #GDP081

Today I’m joining in with the colour challenge over at Global Deign Project , this months colour scheme was Night of Navy, Whisper White and one other colour of our own choice. I really wanted to branch out and use a different colour by my lovely Mint Macaron was calling to me so I chose that as my third colour. Here is my card:

Admittedly its not the best photo, any tips on how to reduce shadows very appreciated. The bow is maybe a little out of proportion with the rest of the card but I kind of like how it dominates.

The greeting comes from Painters Palette and all the floral details were stamped from Falling Flowers. The flower and leaves were cut from May Flowers, a die set I’m crossing my fingers doesn’t make it on the retirement list for this year.

I’ve had fun with this challenge and I’m hoping to join in more in the future. If you’d like to join in with this weeks challenge the pop across and visit Global Design Project by clicking here.

Thank you for stopping by.
