Birthday Bright: Quick & Simple Birthday Cards

Today I’m highlighting the Birthday Bright set, a set which I love but think has been slightly overlooked in the catalogue. It’s supposed to compliment the Birthday Bright project kit but I feel its a great little stamp set on its own. It’s especially useful for making quick and simple birthday cards.

I choose to pair this set with the new Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack, which now comes as loose sheets. I choose the Lemon Lime Twist sheets as its so bright and felt it matched the feel of this stamp set perfectly. I love how well it has worked with both Berry Burst and Pacific Point.

I think my favourite thing about the Birthday Bright stamp set is this Happy Birthday font, its big, bold and curvy meaning you don’t really need to add much else to make a great card.

I added the balloons to add to the birthday feel but think this card would have worked just as well without them. Bold and bright these cards make me happy when I  look at them. If you  like the Birthday Bright set then gab it quick as its only around for four more days!

Girly Thank You Card with Love You Lots and Love Sparkles

Today I’m featuring two sets which are on the retiring list but are two of my favourites for creating cute and girly cards.  I’m featuring the cute little elephant on this card but any of the images in Love You Lots could be used. This is a hostess set so only available with an order over £150.00, so if you want to grab it get your order in quick.

I created the background by sponging Pink Pirouette all over a piece of Whisper White measuring 13.5cm x 9.5cm.  I then took Blushing Bride and stamped the large star and star sprinkles stamps from Love Sparkles all over in a random pattern. I love the super girly look this created.

Next I cut out the largest oval from the Stitched Shape Framelits in Watercolour Paper. I stamped the elephant from Love You Lots in Basic Black Archival Ink and left in to dry a little. Once dry I used the Watercolour Pencils and Aqua Painter to colour the image.

As I has already created a matt layer in Silver Foil I wanted to added more silver to the card so I took the Silver Metallic Thread and wound it round and round the pink layer before I adhered to the Silver Foil. I did this as I have no silver ribbon but really like the soft effect it has created. To finish off the card I added a Silver Doily behind the oval panel.

Here’s the finished card, I love it:

Father’s Day card featuring Custom Tee for #GDP086

This week’s Global Design Project challenge was a  sketch challenge, if you want to join in you can find more details here. I love sketch challenges as they give a real focus to my crafting which is sometimes needed when you mountains of pretty products begging to be used.

After having a look through my supplies I decided to base my card around this stripy paper from the By the Shore DSP collection, which has sadly been left in its pack as I’m not a huge Calypso Coral fan. Anyway this paper just reminded me of my dad’s favourite summer  shirt, which if you’d met him would find odd as he’s a sheep farmer from Yorkshire so can usually been found in wellies and overalls and not dressed up and most certainly not in Coral!

I decided to  make him a Father’s Day card as June 18th will soon be here and he really is one in a million, he has to put with me as a daughter doesn’t he. I chose Calypso Coral as a card base and actually really like how it turned out.

The sentiment on the T-Shirt is actually two stamps. I stamped the One in A Million sentiment and then wanted the word Dad. So I took the Rad Dad stamp from the same set and covered the Rad part up with washi tape, I used the Mint Macaron Vine washi from the Affectionately Yours collection which fitted perfectly. Ink up the stamp and then remove the washi before stamping and there you have a perfectly stamped greeting…first time too.

The You’re the Best sentiment comes from the Urban District stamp set which is perfect for fathers day cards. I finished the card off with a few enamel stars in Dapper Denim because I love them and they just add that little something.

I hope you like todays project and I really hope my dad likes it too.

Floral Friday: Girly Eastern Palace Card

Today I wanted to show you that the Eastern Palace Suite can even look good in more pastel colours and have a more girly look than what originally springs to mind when you look at this suite.

easternpalacefloralfridaycard

I choose to base this card around this piece of dsp which I have from the Playful Palette Stack so I choose a colour scheme of just Whisper White With Blushing Bride which makes for a very soft floral look.

These flowers were created by using the star shaped stamp from Eastern Beauty and stamping tone on tone with Blushing Bride. I then added one of the smaller flourishes to the petals to give a little more detail. Here is a close up photo

The shape was cut using both the outline die and the inner star shaped die from the Eastern Medallions set, so the inner part of the petals popped out a little. I really love this effect.

I finished off my flowers by adding a Blushing Bride enamel dot to the centres and popping then on my pattern paper using Stampin’ Dimensional’s.

The lovely greeting comes from the Eastern Beauty stamp set also, I really love the font of these sentiments, it really adds to the girly feel I wanted for the card.

Old Olive Oak Leaf Birthday Card

My last male birthday themed card for this week features the Lovely As A Tree stamp set and is aimed at an older man. Lovely As A Tree is probably the longest running stamp set in the catalogue, its been in it as long as I can remember and is probably one which many of you have stashed at the back of a cupboard somewhere. So bring it out and give it some inky love.
oldoakleavescard

I took an Old Olive card base and stamp the oak leaf all over in Old Olive ink to give a tone on tone effect. I cut the banner from the Banners Framelits which are on the retiring list but are still available. An alternative product to use is the Triple Banner punch which would just give narrower banners. The Early Expresso patterned paper is from the Moroccan DSP collection, this looks so much better in real life and although its retiring I’m tempted to pick up another pack as its perfect for masculine cards.

The happy birthday sentiment was stamped in Early Expresso and comes from the Milestone Moments stamp set. The card was finished off with a bow made from the Burlap Ribbon and some linen thread.

A quick and simple card which can easily be replicated in a variety of colourways and themes.
